Tara Safford, Registered Acupuncturist | Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic

Tara completed her studies at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM), graduating in 2007. After graduation, Tara began practicing at the Alive Holistic Health clinic in Toronto with the renowned Mary Wong, where she treated a wide range of conditions from chronic pain therapy, HIV complications, neurological disorders, cancer, stress management, digestive issues and injuries, to integrated infertility treatments (male and female) and menstrual conditions.

She subsequently worked in both Montreal and Calgary and attended the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CCTCMA). Now, in 2018, Tara has returned to Toronto, joining the CCNM Integrative Cancer Centre (CCNM ICC) to help support people living with cancer both during and after treatment. Acupuncture has been studied and shown to help improve the quality of life of people living with cancer, before and after treatments:

  • Can effectively reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
  • Helps to relieve symptoms such as fatigue, dry mouth and hot flashes
  • Has been studied to help manage cancer-related pain
  • Supports the body’s ability to make healthy red, white blood cells and platelets, often depleted by cancer treatment
  • Can be helpful in balancing mood, anxiety and depression
